My grandmother would make this to use as a spread on sandwiches and to use as a dip for frog legs, chicken strips, vegetables, etc.
Grandma Betty’s “Secret Sauce”
A sort of Thousand Island like sandwich spread, to be used as a sandwich or burger spread or even as a dip as desired for things like fresh veggie trays, chicken wings or strips, buffalo hot wings, frog legs, fish sticks, etc.
1 cup olive oil
1 cup Dijon mustard
1 cup cup mayonnaise
2 Tbsp ketchup
1/4 to 1 cup honey, to taste
1/2 cup sweet pickle relish
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/8 to 1 teaspoon garlic powder, to taste
1/8 to 2 teaspoons onion powder, to taste
1/16 teaspoon (pinch) ground white pepper or red pepper flakes, optional
dash of Tiger or Tabasco sauce, optional
Combine all ingredients and vigorously mix well using fork or whisk. Refrigerate overnight to allow the flavors to meld then stir just before serving.
Will keep for about ten to 14 days refrigerated in airtight container or jar.
